If you hang out in the IRC channel for Joomla, you'll often see Dr. Digital hanging out there. He's a good guy to get help with Joomla—just make sure your site is updated before you do! Anyways, I was reading his website and he has an article about using HTML and Javascript with modules. Dr. Digital recommends using the "No Editor" option when creating a module that contains HTML or Javascript. It can be a real pain to switch back and forth between No Editor and the JCE Editor, however. Here's a better way:

Sections and Categories are perhaps the most difficult concept to learn in Joomla. Other people have done a much better job than I ever could at explaining what they do, so if you're not sure what they do, read up.

Once you get the concept down and you've worked out your sections and categories, it's not unusual for a large site to have five to ten different sections with the same number of categories. You could be looking at upwards of 100 categories. While it's not hard to create sections and categories, it can be time consuming to:

  1. Click Section Manager
  2. Click New
  3. Type a Title
  4. Click Save
  5. Repeat for each Section
  6. Click Category Manager
  7. Click New
  8. Type a Title
  9. Select a Section
  10. Click Save
  11. Repeat for each Category

Often this can be extremely time consuming. Luckily, there's help.

Perhaps you'd like to start your own podcast, and you'd like to use Joomla to do it. If you're using Joomla 1.0, check out the nice extension Podcast Suite by Joseph LeBlanc, the author of the really great video tutorial Joomla 1.5: Essential Training (check it out if you're brand new to Joomla). Since Podcast Suite doesn't work with Joomla 1.5, I set out on my own to figure out how to make it work. Click read more to learn how...
